UFC fighter Sean Strickland has made an offer to Elon Musk ahead of a potential battle of the billionaires fight against Mark Zuckerberg. The idea of a fight between the two social media owners has gathered pace following an exchange of words via both Twitter and Instagram.
The proposal to fight began when Musk Tweeted that he was “up for a cage fight” with Facebook and Instagram‘s owner. Zuckerberg then posted screenshot of Musk’s tweet with the caption “send me location”.
The Twitter owner was quick to fire back with a simple “Vegas Octagon” and has since made light of the situation in a series of posts. Zuckerberg, however, appears to have taken the challenge more seriously and has posted several pictures of himself in jiu jitsu training with five-times Black Belt World Champion Mikey Musumeci.
Musk has since been thrown a lifeline thanks to UFC middleweight fighter Sean Strickland. The 32-year-old turned professional at the age of 16 and has an impressive MMA record of 26 wins and just five defeats.
Strickland’s last fight came off the back of two defeats in the UFC. The American took Nassourdine Imavov to five rounds before being awarded a unanimous victory.
Strickland now appears to be looking to take on a coaching role for Musk since learning of the fight. Posting on Twitter, he said: “Man f*** Mark Zuckerberg.. Dirty communist…. No one wants your goggles and your disinformation censorship but…. Facebook market gets a pass…. @elonmusk come to Vegas. We will put in work!”
The fight hasn’t only caught the attention of MMA stars, recently UFC’s president Dana White has weighed in on the potential bout. “This would be the biggest fight ever in the history of the world,” White said to TMZ Sports.
“Bigger than anything that’s ever been done. It would break all pay-per-view records. These guys would raise hundreds of millions of dollars for charity. You don’t have to be a fight fan to be interested in this fight. Everybody would want to see it.”
In response to how big this fight could be, White did not mince his words. “The biggest fight of all time was Floyd Mayweather and Conor [McGregor], I just think it triples that,” he said. “I think it triples what that did. There’s no limit on what that thing can make. Everybody would watch it, everybody would want to see it.”
Both Zuckerberg and Musk are two of the world’s richest businessmen and their potential UFC fight would see the proceeds going to charity, with neither in need of the purse. Zuckerberg has a staggering net worth of £80 billion, while Musk is currently the richest person on Earth with a whopping £186 billion to his name.
