Hello everyone and welcome to this edition of The Master Instructor Roundtable. I’m regional master instructor Marty Miller, here with my dear friend and fellow Regional Director Miss Wendy batts. Wendy, how you doing today?
I’m great, Marty. How are you?
Great. I’m excited. We got awesome, awesome guests come in this week to our instructor roundtable. This week, we have any SM project manager, Steve Myers, and NSM content development and production manager and fellow master instructor rich Fahmy. And when you want Sharon, what we’re gonna be speaking to today,
Yes, so I’m hoping that everyone knows the NSF has recently launched our what we are terming CWC. So as you saw on the commercial, our certified wellness coach, and content in our course.
And so we’re bringing these fine gentlemen on today, so they can tell us a little bit more about what we’re launching why we’re launching it and just in general, what is it? Why do we need it? And why is this different than anything else NSM has ever done. And like, ever, I don’t even know how else to say it so ever. So never stops, right?
I’m super, super excited about this product and can’t wait to learn more about it. And so we can bring these fine gentlemen, and we’re gonna get right to it. I want to I want them to enlighten me. Teach me your ways. Teach me teach me everything I need.

How are you? Great. Thanks for having us.
Yeah, thanks for being here, guys. And, again, my craziness, I’m going to butt in, I’m going to ask the first question. And I can go to either one of you guys. So I don’t know who wants to take it. But can you guys tell us a little bit? Just what is? So we say see WC or certified wellness coach, can you tell us? What is it just to start?
It’s a coaching certification. All right, which is really what it is. Now, of course, for NSM, you know, we stay in the fitness and wellness space, since that’s where we play.
But this is really about coaching and connecting on a deeper level with your clients, to provide for them really what they want out of those domains, you know, what do they want out of movement? What do they want out of nutrition?
Are they being able to recover and regenerate to the extent that they want to? Yeah, are they happy? Is their life purposeful and passion filled? That’s what we really talk about in this course.
So kind of to piggyback, sorry, morning just can use. So can you give us a little bit more like how does this differ than the CNC that we have? Or even our CPT, some of our other products?
Because I know it’s coaching, but they’re, you know, we’ve got so many different coaching things out there. So truly how, besides, you know, just making people feel better move better. I mean, we do that in all of our certifications. So how does this one differ?
How Does Wellness Coach (CWC) Differ from Other NASM Certifications?
I think it differs really by connecting with your clients in a more meaningful way. And I don’t mean that, that fitness professionals aren’t connecting with clients in a meaningful way now, because you may be doing this already. But it’s going beyond just the external guidelines, set by industries, external guidelines, often set by society about what you should be or who you should be.
And it’s about providing a space for your clients to really investigate these domains, and understand them in a way that is relevant to them, and meaningful to them. So if we were to talk about CPT or CNC specifically, those certifications may be applicable here in wellness, it will depend on really what your client wants. But maybe your clients really looking to reestablish a relationship with movement in a way that has nothing to do with the gym in a way that maybe has nothing to do with physical embodiment or changing their body.
Maybe it all has to do with pleasure, or culture, or connection. It’s really hard to say because we need to find out all those answers from our clients, not from us.
Awesome. That’s awesome information. Steven, I’m looking forward to going through this myself. And you know, one of the things I know is going to come up and I’m going to, obviously ask this right off the bat is what is the scope of practice and or role of a certified wellness coach?
And how would that differ from a certified personal trainer? So if we can kind of, you know, me rich, go more into that scope of practice, because it always comes up and it just came up with our CNC for sure.
Scope of PRactice for HEALTH COACHES OR Wellness Coaches
Right, right. Well, so you know, that as far as scope is concerned, you know, we don’t we always have to be very careful of it. I think at NSM. We do a fantastic job of scope. In general with all of our curriculum. One of the things that we might want to be able to think of this as terms of the wellness coach is part of the Care team have a client. So, you know, we will be dealing with things as a wellness coach like stress management, psychological recovery, physical recovery.
But if we’re if we’re hedging to the realm of things like let’s say disordered eating, or depression and anxiety, then then while we can support someone’s behaviors and strategies to address those in their lives, we’re not talking with them about those things, specifically in terms of treatment options, or, you know, things that they can do to address those directly.
So, you know, it’s, it’s almost like to put something in context that a lot of us are familiar with, it’s, it’s as if you have a personal training client that’s seeing a physical therapist the same time they’re seeing you, right, the physical therapist is doing diagnosis and treatment, and follow up in that sense, but the personal trainer can easily support what they’re getting from a clinical professional, and keep them on track and provide strategies and feedback.
One of the things too, that a wellness coach can do that is extremely helpful is actually observation, right? Because they’re, they spend more time with a client than let’s say, a therapist would be just talking about everything in life, let’s say they’re not necessarily talking about a particular condition or something they might be dealing with.
But observationally, a wellness coach can offer some things that they’re noticing and say, Hey, I’ve been you know, I’ve noticed that when you speak about this topic, you start to sound a little bit stressed. You know, can you tell me about that? Have you discussed that with your therapist, you know, things like that. So, you know, the the scope of a lot of scope is really something that is just need to see yourself as part of the overall care team for a client, when it starts to hedge into diagnosis and treatment. That’s the edge of our scope. We don’t, we don’t address that.
If I can ask just a quick follow up. So to me, it sounds like and this could go to either rich or Steve.
It helps me develop the fitness professionals soft skills in maybe identifying what is going on during the sessions and or, you know, because a lot of this may come up and maybe a personal trainer isn’t quite in tune with the exact and or what the right resource are, does that help with the soft skills?
Oh, yeah, 100%. The good way to put it, I guess the the, the thing that we need to kind of do better at not just in fitness, but really in a lot of industries or service industries is we need to get better at meeting the client where they are. And the difference between wellness coaching and I would say fitness training. There’s Well there’s a lot of differences. But one difference could be a wellness client may never touch structured exercise in any form.
They may never set foot in a fitness facility may never go to boot camp may never go to a boutique studio. But they will be moving for wellness but but in that case, that could look like gardening, it looked like a cardio dance class, it could look like walking their dog in the park with their family. Golf. Right. So that’s, that’s the kind of meaningful movement we talked about that benefits wellness. You know, and then of course, we do want to get to those, you know, what are the standard recommendations, right, 150 minutes a week of moderate or 75 minutes a week of vigorous activity.
Those are all very nice and well and good and what we want to get to, but you know, that’s not meeting someone where they’re at, right? I know, for me, especially starting as a as when I was starting as a personal trainer, I really kind of I sort of sucked at meeting a client where they were right. They think they came in and they’re like, hey, you know, I want to lose this much weight and I want to you know, do this or that. But okay, great. I already have your program set, right? We’re gonna go, let’s go down this row of machines, right, really old Kaiser and Cybex machines, by the way, so that’ll age me.
But and Nautilus, so you know that that really wasn’t meeting them where they were at, right? Cuz I didn’t spend any time to ask questions, they really didn’t find out what are you trying to? Do? You know why you’re trying to do it? With wellness coaching. You know, one of the biggest differences there is we have to accept and expect that the client is the expert in themselves, we’re not. So that’s that’s kind of a big mental difference between what we might be used to with fitness training, and wellness coaching.
Awesome. Well, those of you guys that are just joining us, I am here with rich Fahmy as well as Steve Myers, and we are talking about our new course that we are, that is the certified wellness coach, we’re finding out some information, why do we need it?
What is it about? And that actually brings me to the next question. And I don’t know if maybe this you know, because for you guys to come up with this concept that this is what we’re missing, you know, we need to add, you know, wellness and to our industry. I mean, it’s obviously a thing. And there are other organizations that do certified coaching.
So can you can kind of tell us like, why are we bringing it into NASM? Like what kind of components will the entire course cover? So can you just kind of give us a little bit more about what what’s going to be provided to help us really grow especially if this is like a focus that I think so many of us need. Rich?
What Went into MAking The CWC Course?
Sure. You know, one way to maybe answer that is to think about the contrast what we normally do as trainers. So, oftentimes, when we’re looking at personal training, it’s, we’re looking at generating a or bringing about a specific adaptation to someone’s kinetic chain, right to bring backwards that we all know and love. And, and wellness is not so much about that.
Or if we’re trying to elicit particular performance parameters that we’re measuring with regularity and assessing. It’s really, if we look at movement, for example, because this is a question that comes up, I’m already a personal trainer. You know, aren’t I already a wellness professional and, and, you know, exercising does do a lot to bring about someone’s wellness and improve someone’s well being. But it’s not the same thing as being a wellness professional.
You know, it’s like in the same sense that I might be a financial advisor, and I could contribute to your stress level and your wellness and your well being and your wellness, because I’m helping you deal with something that’s really important in life. But does that make me a wellness professional, not necessarily.
But movement for wellness in, in this course, is not so much about sets and reps on the EBT model, because we already take care of that it’s in it’s in CPT, it’s in CES, it’s in PES, we already have all the instruction we need around that. And how to do that movement in the wellness sense is what what is your relationship with movement, I think is a really huge thing. What are your motivations around movement?
What are the benefits that are related to movement that have that don’t have to do necessarily with, you know, physiological adaptations or performance adaptations? Things like, you know, what do you enjoy? Does it foster a sense of community for you? What do you just find to do that? What do you do that just maybe checks multiple boxes, right, that you get to be with your family, you get to spend time with your family and also engage in activity.
So it’s really about that kind of thing. And then also, of course, the the many mental and emotional benefits that movement can carry in terms of, you know, things we hear a lot about, like stress relief, and managing anxiety and things like that. But, you know, we do take a deep dive into that we do take a deep dive into movement and how it impacts cognitive performance. So memory, attention and learning, for example.
So it’s, it’s all these benefits that we that as a as a, an organization that NASM doesn’t necessarily take a deep dive into comes to the benefits of movement, that we’re going to do that in this course, with nutrition. It’s very similar. So it’s not necessarily about performance. It’s about a pre/post workout or getting ready for an event or a practice. It’s about what’s your relationship with food, right, we’ll talk about intuitive eating, we’ll talk about healthy eating patterns, what it means to eat for wellness as opposed to performance, short term, long term impact of food on health, things like a weight neutral approach, different things like that. So it’s going to be different.
Of course, we have some basics on like macronutrients and digestion and all that good stuff. But the focus of a wellness coach is going to be different than someone who let’s say, as a sports nutrition, has a sports nutrition focus,
I think to kind of sum up what Rich was talking about is really to connect to a deeper why, and really understand what you want to get out of that relationship with that domain.
And so you may find later on that you do want to progress into performance or other things like that, you may want to do body composition change. But right now, maybe you decide that you want to take on you know, a fitness program, because you want to feel stronger.
So how other ways can we make you feel stronger? Do you have to be in the gym? Or maybe you just noticed that you sleep better? So then how do we support your sleep through movement? So I think it’s just about connecting to that deeper why and really getting out of that relationship, what you want.
And I also think it’s okay to identify that you want multiple things out of a relationship, maybe at different times. So then what does that look like? Really, you know, talking about nutrition, where we all kind of play in this multifaceted relationship with nutrition in terms of social, it’s, you know, regenerative, it’s a basic human need.
There’s also pleasure. And you know, and unfortunately for a lot of us, there’s guilt and shame and other things associated with food. So, do we want all those relationships with our food? Or do we only want certain relationships with that food? And so it’s really about digging in with your client and figuring that out.
Awesome. That’s great information. So for those either just joining, we are here with our two product experts who just put together with a group of amazing people will talk about our certified wellness coach. So I’m going to throw a question out here when you’re talking about the why.
So let’s talk about why or what opportunities do you foresee coming and I know could be wide ranging for our certified personal trainers, if they go down this road to become a certified wellness coach.
Opportunities for Personal Trainers Who Become Wellness Coaches
I think it provides a ton of opportunities with their clients and provides a ton of opportunity to connect deeper. It also opens up you know the services you offer and kind of what you offer because it’s no longer Under structured around these external guidelines, nor is it structured around body composition or weight or anything like that.
So you really have an opportunity to dig in deeper and connect better with your clients. That to me is, is really what is is most important here, I don’t know, if we need to focus in on Oh, you’ll be able to work this place or that place or this place or that place, because I think you continue working wherever you’re working now.
Or you can bring this, you know, to open up new opportunities, we have tons of existing professionals who’d like to take these courses, just to do their job better, to just to change the relationship with the people they work with, you know, if it even be just heads of households, is that your business, your family is your business.
So you want to interact with them in a different manner, and have a different relationship with them, you also want to connect these very important domains to them, you know, in a different and meaningful way. So it does open up more opportunities, because you will be a wellness coach. But I also think it provides you to just expand on the job you’re at and really what you’re doing now.
I think like if I can add on to that one, too, is one way to think about it. That kind of sums it up is if take whatever you’re doing now, whether it’s a personal trainer, or whatever professional capacity you have right now.
And can I add in to it, can I take that to coaching my client on a holistic level, but still being within scope? Right. So that’s kind of one way to think about the the larger topics you’re going to now be able to encompass to contribute to someone’s overall well being and health.
Awesome. That makes total sense. Thank you for that.
Well, and Rick’s this is kind of I think more of a question considering you’re like, you know, more of the content development side of it, can you enlighten because I know that we had some amazing contributors to this content.
And of course, we’ve talked about that there’s information about sleep and movement, nutrition and recovery. But can you kind of tell us like the heavy lifting that went into creating this course, and some of the contributors and why this truly is something that’s completely unique that’s out there. This really does kind of separate us from others that, you know, obviously has been in the space a little bit longer.
Why The CWC is Such a Difference Maker
Sure. So you know, that the approach kind of started with, really CNC was sort of the first time that we are sort of a nutrition coach was when we went, Hey, let’s let’s start bringing in experts, like a large panel of experts, right? And, and also, in one way to put it, people that aren’t in the NASM bubble intentionally, that we want to find people.
So we didn’t want to find people that were only like, in our echo chamber, right? Because we always want to go with the evidence and the science leads, right, so we need to find experts. Like let’s not find an expert in sleep, let’s just find an expert in sleep. Right. So that that’s kind of we so that’s when kind of that that shift sort of started happening with wellness, we kind of took that to a whole other level, because we’re able to get some crazy experts.
I don’t know how to like even start to talk about how amazing these people were, I’ll highlight a few of them, because some of them might be a little bit more well known. But I mean, if you look at the areas of obviously of nutrition, movement, exercise, human performance, but you’re also looking at positive psychology, health, psychology, social, social psychology, neuroscience, stress, sleep, cognition, so the you know, all these different people that we’re able to bring together. And then we had a net.
So there was a lot of those were authors and contributors. And then we had another layer of expert, that were also peer reviewers. So they so not only did we have experts off, we had ox, experts author but we also had experts serve as reviewers of completed manuscripts.
And so some of the people that we brought on to help us were, you know, Dr. Kelly McGonigal is a very popular name. She just had a book a couple years ago, I think now, the joy of movement. She’s a lecturer at Stanford.
She’s a health psychologist. She reads more research each day than I think a lot of people reading an entire year. She is talking on the phone with her about her kind of steady research diet, and it’s pretty impressive. So she’s, she’s phenomenal, but she understands and she’s also a group X instructor. So she understands the world of structured exercise and movement. But then she also beyond a, you know, pretty much most people that I’ve ever talked to understands the idea of what does it mean to use movement for a connection, to feel strong, to feel fierce to experience joy, to find your purpose and meaning to feel secure and confident like she she takes all of that stuff and and sort of marries it with the concept of movement.
She’s pretty amazing. And I think she has one of the most-watched TED talks on all the time on stress. She also brings another interesting perspective on some because she was one of those the first people to kind of go, Hey, stress is actually okay. It’s our perception of stress. That’s the problem. Right? Another person actually ended kind of that related line, Dr. Jaime tartare, she has another a popular TED talk actually also on stress. But she’s a researcher, and also Research Director and Professor in Florida.
And she does a great talk on stress. For us. She also was a peer reviewer. Some chapters, you have Jim Laval, who’s a clinical pharmacist, he has a lot in the world of integrative health and Integrative Medicine. Dr. Allison breaker, who is an army of neuroscientists, she is one of the world’s foremost experts on sleep, and sleep deprivation, sleep research.
And then a team of psychologists that deal with cognition performance, we had the folks out in the UK sigma nutrition, they helped out with a lot of the nutrition pieces. And just the experts have just been phenomenal. And we were really fortunate to get them sometimes. You know, a lot of the behind the scenes stuff is you don’t see what goes into it is you know, Steve and I are basically cold calling people like, Hey, would you would you like to work with us? Right? This is what we’re trying to do. And a lot of them on this project? They said yes. And so we’re like, really? Okay, cool. Yeah.
Yeah. Because they, they, we, you know, we basically told them, hey, this is what we’re trying to do that. Not only does the fitness industry need this, but the community at large needs this, right in terms of what wellness coaching can bring to people.
So, yeah, I don’t even know how where to start on how amazing those experts are. I guess that’s really the one thing I will add in as we’ve done these expert lectures, as well, and expert q&a is. So a lot of our electric videos now are pretty scripted. And you will see that in wellness, as well. We have scripted lecture videos that help highlight some of the content in the course, and explain it in a way that’s a little more approachable sometimes, especially if it’s kind of dense. But we also did these expert lectures.
So it’s as if you’re sitting there in the classroom with these experts, people like Dr. McGonigal, Dr. Tartar, Dr. Breaker, like you’re sitting there, and they’re talking to you about their areas of expertise.
And then we also have the q&a, we sort of picked out maybe eight to 10 questions that are sort of follow ups to their lectures, things that they might get in a classroom or at a conference or a TED talk, something like that. And so we also filmed what those are. So you know, to be able to have access to this level of an expert, all in one place in their respective domains is, is pretty special. So we’re really excited. Also, oh, go ahead.
No, no, I’m just say, that’s impressive. I’m looking forward to getting through the content myself. But Steve, go ahead. Before I ask my next question, please.
No, I just want to highlight too, that we hired a coach, as you know, our SME who works with a lot of graduates of our competitor programs. And the reason we did that is because she spent time with so many of these graduate professionals, and she understands their gaps, they all come to her with a lot of the same issues, a lot of the same gaps in the programs, they come out of the program, they don’t necessarily have the confidence they’re looking for.
And so we went ahead and worked with her. And we really tried to fill the gaps within this program within coaching. So that if you are a new professional in this space, you’re going to have the confidence to get out and get start working.
That’s awesome. No, I’m this is definitely on my to do list. So with that, since I’m, when he knows this at this time of year, I carve out my cutting education for next year. So how much time do I need to carve out? How big is this? What’s the time that is given? For anyone that signs up for the certified wellness coach and kind of, I’ve heard a number but throughout how many chapters we have in here.
how Many Chapters ARE in the Course?
So 35 at phase one. already? So yeah, we have we have, there’s 35 that time of launch. I mean, I guess 36 If you count chapter zero, right, that’s your intro. So here’s how you study, here’s how you take this course. So you know, 36 Technically, but 35 of content, we will probably have updates to the course that will include additional chapters later.
But at launch, it’s going to be you know, 35 chapters of content. In terms of how long we would recommend it’s probably in the realm of of six months to really sit in Yeah, for two months. Yeah. Yeah, four to six months if you’re if you’re gonna sit down with the content and you know, I mean, you can blow through it and redo all the chapters if you want but if you’re going to sit down really want you know, taking lecture videos and expert lectures and and and learn the material that I would say you know, you’re at that four to six month mark.
There’s also a simulation at the end. It’s, it’s it has no bearing on your passing of the course but the simulation is kind of a, you know, my quite a capstone but I guess you can call it a capstone. But the the end it’s a it’s as digital simulation of working with a client doing some motivational interviewing. And it’s also randomized.
So it’s replayable, you can, you can play through it multiple times and get a different client scenario each time. There’s lots and lots of clients really, as you go through, you know, things from anywhere, like their mood state, sometimes your client might be a little grumpy. Sometimes they’re also really excited. Sometimes they’re a little hesitant. You different levels of experience, different needs, different backgrounds, it’s actually, it’s really, it’s super cool. We’re working with our simulations team on this one has been pretty amazing.
So you basically you get to practice being a wellness coach and having an interview session with your, with your client. In complete safety, right, you’re not going to be screwing somebody up or messing something up with an actual human being which you get to kind of navigate through, you know, asking the right questions, and then taking those answers that they give you and then moving the conversation forward for them off.
There’s, there’s really great experimental learning and as well, you know, because you can do a guided or you can do it unguided. And so if you want to kind of get feedback with each decision you make, you have that option.
Or you can just take the client authentically through a session, and then it gives you feedback at the end. And so that’s great, and, you know, bad in the sense that you could take the client all the way through, and at the very end, you could find out like, oh, they had five different motivations, and you didn’t uncover one of them, you know, or you can do it step by step.
Or you may find out that, you know, you went through, and you uncovered all five motivations, or two out of the three or two out of the five, or you know, any of those sort of things. So it really gives you a varied feedback, depending on how you want to play with it.
That’s awesome. Well, that actually brings me to my next question, you know, after listening to, you know, rich and listening to the contributors, and then obviously, you know, Steve, kind of talking about the ability of us being able to do some of these, you know, actually putting it into practice, and that’s part of this course, can you let us know a little bit of your decision not to seek accreditation with the National Board of Health and Wellness Coaching initially?
And do you think that’s something that will change? And if so, why, when just kind of a little bit more, because I know, there’s been some questions about that.
National Board of Health and Wellness Coach Accreditation Process
So we have contacted them, and we have sent them over our whole program blueprint, so we have gone ahead and facilitated contact with them. But in order for them to approve the course, I believe they want the course finished, and they want to go through the course. So we have all intentions of supporting our professionals in whatever needs that they have.
And so I don’t feel like if it’s approved yet or not approved means that we’ve decided to approve it or not approve it. At NASM, we want to go ahead and support our professionals in every realm we can. So if the MV ch WC is a huge ask of our professionals, like I said, we’ve already contacted them and started the conversations, we’ll go through and make sure we support our individuals and professionals in any way they see fit.
Awesome, excellent, good. And so always, you know, it’s the same thing we have a lot we have a lot of, we have a lot of other institutions that will align our program with the program just has to be complete, because we have to submit it for with us.
But this is a program that provides value, you know, continuing education well beyond just the fitness industry. So we’ll look to align the program with as many different institutions as we can to provide our professionals with as much support as we can.
Awesome. Well, for anyone that’s just joining today, we are talking about our new newly released certified wellness coach, and we have two of the awesome content managers that put this beautiful project together. And we’re just diving into the what the how the why.
And this leads me to my next question, I’ll throw that out to whomever. Once it’s achieved when somebody gets and becomes a certified wellness coach, what does it take to maintain that credential? And also has there been a CEU allocation for people that already certified through NASM and will this also be utilized for CEUs for the CPT?
Maintaining the Credential and CEUs
So you’ll receive 1.9 for completing it, at least within you know, the fitness industry. It will require 1.9 Like I said, as we align with other institutions and industries, we’ll go ahead and provide the applicable CPUs that they see and that those professionals will need.
Excellent, thank you. And so this kind of brings me to another question just for clarity and myself like you both have said well when the course is finished, and however I think I can go on and NASM and purchase this so is this course not complete? Is it complete? Can you guys can Walk me through where we are and what that meant.
Sure it’s in presale. So the actual course is going to be launched, it will be available. So if you purchase it now ahead of time, it will show up in your, your learning management system dashboard. December 22. It’ll it’ll drop in. So yeah, we are in the in the completion phase right now. So it’s getting ready. So Rich, kind of what you’re saying is it’s an early Christmas present to yourself.

Yes, yes. So so let me morning, I’m going to ask one other questions to actually, I think both of these guys. So for those of you guys that are joining us, we are so excited to have Steve Myers, Steve was the pretty much the product manager of this amazing course.
And then we have rich Fahmy, who was the basically the content developer developer, and he’s the one that kind of put everything together and made sure that it aligned with, obviously what our goals and missions are at NSM. So thank you both, again, for being here. But what do you think I mean, in all reality, and we’ve talked about obviously, wellness and movement and stuff, but if you had to talk to our community of people, and we are telling everyone that we want you to purchase this, this is an incredible course.
You know, what do you think, on a value standpoint, I am going to be able to do because I do have my CPT? I have my ces MIP Yes, I have my CNC, you name it with NSM I believe the blue and so I believe in all of our products.
But you know, if I added this to my you know, my book, and I put more letters behind my name, you know, like, do you think I mean, am I just like a one stop shop then? Or is this something that I could actually take and become my niche? Do you think it? Like, kind of tell me, what is this going to do for me in the long term? And, you know, how is that going to separate me from others?
Sure, there’s really, you know, that’s kind of, I don’t want to be cliche, right, there’s all there’s sort of an unlimited number of options.
But if we had to kind of think about it in two buckets, from the standpoint of a an NSF professional, you either make it part of your sessions, or charge separately for it, if you wanted to, you know, it’s a whole new understanding and in, in your client, it’s a it’s a, it’s a different way of approaching your clients needs. It’s, it marries really well a personal training, because if if, you know, if you can find that sweet spot of something that a client enjoys, that they get a lot out of. And that benefits them from a physiological standpoint and emotional standpoint, in a psychological standpoint, and then you kind of hit the the magical kind of win win win around movement and exercise.
And for a lot of people that is structured exercise, you know, especially a lot of our clients. For a lot of people it’s not so you know, if you have if you want to start working with clients that will probably never touch a kettlebell or dumbbell or battling rope.
But you want to talk to them about the impact of physical activity and movement in their life and healthy eating patterns, then, you know, you can do that with this certification. So it expands your client base, it expands what you do with your current clients and expands the kinds of topics you can, you can coach them on, you know, and then it also we walk you through what it means to be a wellness coach, there’s the whole coaching section talks about that.
Excellent, Ingrid, I would just have to think there’s an intangible that if you have this knowledge, you’re going to be a more desirable personal trainer because when you can connect with people and as you said at their level with what they need and be able to adapt any given day, that’s going to have to in turn make you a very desirable fitness professional and then their supply and demand of your time. I would you know
Yeah, yeah. Oh, for sure. I mean, if I had to think about to my training days and I thought about you know, we can all think about the clients that really stick with us over time. Is it that you know, is it because your programming was that much superior you know, across your clients like their programming and having you happen to hit the nail on the head where other other clients have programming was off. Programming isn’t usually the issue right.
Your expertise, right exercise isn’t usually an issue. It’s it’s how well are you serving them? How well are you meeting them where they where they’re at? How are you accommodating other aspects of their life? What how well, are you connecting to them on a human level?
And so that that, to me was the difference maker, in terms of my clients over the years. And so that’s this, this certification really is focused on that, that how do you connect with someone on a human level on a holistic level? You know, to really get them the results that they need and the outcomes that they want, sometimes even get the outcomes they don’t know they want yet. You know, a lot of that’s revealed in conversation.
Yeah, that’s great. So we’re here today with Steve Myers, our product manager and rich Fahmy our content in production manager of our new certified wellness coach, and now this question can go to either of you, whoever you feel is best suited to answer it. I always look at as I said, I’m mapping out my content education for next year. And I always myself the way I do it, I purposely put a certain amount of my income away for education, because it’s an investment to me, I truly look at it that way.
So when you talk about the presale, is that an opportunity to get in early and kind of lock in a price do you do we can we just talk about we know it’s 1.9 CPUs, which is a lot talked about 35 plus two more chapters possibly coming. So obviously, there’s a lot of material and you have some of the world’s greatest experts. But can you discuss the the price on that and what they get if they do it before the presale is over.
We can discuss the price, I’m not sure exactly what’s going on with the pre sale all that stuff, just because we’re not in in sales, but I know that they’re offering at a great discount right now. And I know that the program itself is very competitively priced when you look at other wellness coaching programs.
So I think it’s a great time to get it, if you’re interested in it. If you want to wait and see, you know, some of the content from it and stuff like that, you know, I understand that as well. But the price really is, you know, I, I always think about if you’re looking at the price is the program right for you. You know, and we’re just talking a little bit about what the program allows you to do.
And I think Marty, you really touched on something super important, it’s just that kind of expands that playing field, and allows you to open up a new space for your clients, which allows them to understand the reason why they do things on a deeper level, which then usually results in your clients staying with you for longer, we know it’s a lot easier to service ongoing clients than it is to continue to onboard new clients.
So I’d say this provides an extreme amount of value to you professionally. But again, I get back to the price. I mean, when you really look at other wellness coaching courses, this one’s extremely competitively priced. I would say that our delivery of content, our experts, our instructional designers, all of them are top notch. And so you’re looking at really, you know, a university prepared level course here. It’s amazing.
I think you definitely answer when you talk about the quality of the content. And you talk about the quality of the instructors, as well as when you’re looking at the benchmark in the industry, and that this is on par. You know, we’ve got people who are, you know, blown up TED talks, you’ve got that this is a university level course. You know, and, and like I said, and Wendy and I’ve talked about this on all our instructor roundtables and this question comes up, hence why I had to ask it is, you know, you want to look at your continued education as an investment.
And you want to make sure that you’re on the right track for what you want to do. Because then when it is time for you to recertify, you looked back and said, You know what, I really maximize my learning experience, because I was ahead of it and prepared and I identified where my holes were potentially, and or where opportunities that I wanted to take. So, you know, this is why, you know, it’s a common question that we see all the time. But I think that you definitely covered the why, of course was put together to the level it was
another thing about the course to you guys that we really went with the most accepted evidence in those fields. So if this is your first step into the fields, the things you learn here will carry through if you go on to get a masters, or a doctorate or whatever else you know, other licensure whatever else you decide is right for you. You won’t ever go oh, what I learned in that first course I never talked about anymore, I really found out that the industry doesn’t talk about that that’s not at all true here is we really aligned with the most evidence based theories, concepts, practice that exist in those domains.
And you know, it’s funny, I love the way that you do your CEUs. But like if I was coaching somebody about what they want to get out of CPUs, I would specifically ask them, What do you want to get out of it? Are you interested in learning? Are you interested in keeping your professional certification up? You know, I mean, like, those are all different things.
And I don’t think there’s anything wrong with deciding what’s right for you at that moment. Because I think we’ve all been in the industry where certifications snuck up on us and we’re like, oh my gosh, it’s doing like two months like right Now the only thing I care about is keeping my professional certs, you know, in line with accreditation, and I want to keep working well, you know, that’s going to drive you to a different decision, then if you know what guys, I really want to expand my clientele wanna expand my customer base, I want to learn to connect and provide value on different levels with my clients, I also want to just open up the space for them to investigate different relationships with things in their lives. Because that’s really what this is about.
And, you know, you really hear Dr. McGonigal talk a lot about that is what do you want to get out of this relationship? What do you want to get out of specifically today, and that really helps drive what you do in those days, and you can kind of roll up your actions. And that just becomes this sort of compass or guiding light for you, you know, if it’d be daily, weekly, yearly, monthly, however, you however you function, whatever you need, you know, this education will open up that to you and to your clients. No, thank you for that.
You can tell you’ve gone through the content, I feel so inspired like. Because you know what my education is my world. Like, I love education. And if you think that that’s what I need, and that’s what I need.
So well, I just, you know, I want to just be honest with you, like if you just need CPUs to keep your cert up, like you can do it for a lot less money and spend a heck of a lot less time to do that. Yeah, yeah, I don’t want to go sell you on getting the CW, see, if you’re like, oh, my gosh, I’ve got two days to keep my CPT renewed, or else I lose my job, like, I would highly recommend you to call ahead and get something you can do right away and get that.
Yeah, yeah. If you just need to research don’t take this course, this is this is a deep dive. Well, that’ll take you it’ll take you longer to get through it. I mean, I mean, one way to think about the value of this, too is is will it add value to my practice as a fitness professional or otherwise?
Right? And it’s immediate? I mean, can we all agree that if we all thought back to our very first client, we would like to do over? Right? So you know, I kind of looked, but as we’re going through this content, I was looking through and going, Man, I wish this content existed, you know, I will say, I’ll age myself, you know, 20 years ago, in the, in this format, when I was, you know, doing more personal training and kind of starting my career in that in that area.
Because it would have made me so much better, right. So the value, the immediate value of it, it adds to your clients because of who it makes you as a professional, can’t be understated. You know, in terms of that. So you know, the value of the course is measured on the value provides to your clients at the end of the day. And I really wish I had this under my belt.
Because I look back at a lot of my clients, obviously, not just my first client, but a lot of my clients, I look back and go, Gosh, I, you know, maybe could have gotten that person better results could have kept that other person on a little bit longer. Or could have gotten someone results faster, right, if I understood, meeting someone where they were at in a way that’s meaningful to them in this really, this helps you do that.
